Christmas time is here

The smell of Christmas is in the air! Well kind of, it's our first Christmas in Florida so the air and feel is very different and will definitely take some getting used to. Last year we had snow in Washington around Christmas time. Jaylen as we all know loves helping with any and everything so he was surprised by the tree in a box this year. Last year and every year before that my family always bought a real tree. Being new to Florida we were a bit a afraid of a real tree considering the bug count is higher than we are used to so we decided to play it safe.

My mom and I always love going all out for Christmas and ever since I was a little girl we always have to the decor is always a big deal. We went with a warm yet festive blend this year the purples and the "off gold" as I call it really went well together and made the place feel so warm and cozy.

More Christmas sights later but enjoy the pics, and take all the inspiration you need!

Road trip anyone??

And we're off! My mom, Jaylen and I went to go visit my Sister and her Faience down in Miami. I wasn't a long trip we only stayed for one night but it was nice seeing her and seeing the sights. Jaylen did very good for a 4 hour drive both down and back. Since he's still napping we tried to leave right before it so he wouldn't get to cranky. But as you can see we played for a bit, had some snacks and he went to sleep for most of the drive.

Before we checked into our hotel we did some shopping and visited my sister at her house then headed back to the hotel just in time for bed time. It was Jaylen's first time at a hotel when he could walk and understand where we were and he really like it, Especially the elevator buttons and how high up we were.

So the next day we spent it at the Miami Zoo, which is ginormous by the way. We didn't make it through the whole thing before Jaylen fell asleep and we got there pretty early so it was just in time for a nap after lunch at the zoo. The other great thing about this day was that it wasn't to hot which for Florida is great but then again this time of year isn't to bad. So during the rest of the day we went back to the hotel and relaxed and just hung out as a family talked and enjoyed each other company.

Happy Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving was Jaylens first where he could eat really food last year he was still on Breastmilk and gerber foods. My mom and I ended up going to a friends house we brought that cake because our family friend wanted to cook everything esle. Before we headed over Jaylen was sure to have his lunch and a little play time. I had to get pictures of cousre, which was sliightly difficult because it was so windy out and I really wanted to use my little sign Jaylen is holding. In the end they turned out ok considering the weather.
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and of course great food!

Homemade Play Dough please

It felt like a good day to make play dough, it's activity week so why not!? I didn't really like the recipes on Pinterest so I just googled it. The one I found I really liked because it was simple and very easy. Follow these instructions:
2 cups flour
2 cups warm water
1 cup salt
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
1 Tablespoon cream of tartar (optional for improved elasticity)

food coloring (liquid, powder, or unsweetened drink mix)
scented oils

We ended up making four colors including this one, Jaylen was a little skeptical about it at first as you can see but once I showed him what you can do with it he couldn't stop playing with the stuff. Make sure you store them in sealed containers because just like real play dough it will dry out and get hard. Have fun making endless amount of this stuff for a lot cheaper than the store bought.

More Simple Edits.

I've always had a thing for photography but I really didn't get into until after I had my son and started following some blogs. I really liked the way they captured their children like in the blog Happiness is Eva. So with a little inspiration and a few ideas of my own I started doing stuff like this. I believe I have another one like this in a post about when he turned one. I want to try and do one of these every year and the half a year mark. Although he hasn't many many years under his belt yet this one is my favorite so far.
